Meet Nicole
Hi, I’m Nicole McCauley I’m a Montana local who coaches under the name of Anchored Aerialist. From a young age I have been dancing, designing and creating. In 2012 I stumbled upon the aerial community in Missoula, it was a natural love affair.
For the last decade I have been immersed in multidisciplinary aerial study, but living in Montana comes with a secluded aerial community. Huge thank you to Jenn Bruyer for bringing her expertise, mentorship, and aerial training to my small community in Missoula. My aerial coaching education was catapulted by Paper Doll Militia and Born to Fly, when I particiapted in their teacher trainings during 2017-2019. My confidence as a teacher grew and I primed to explore new territory. During the pandemic, I continued my aerial study through online programs. I’m fascinated by combinng aerial skills and trasitions with authentic movement. In 2021 I participated in Kalina Suters Aerial Dance program Unearthed. Kalina helped me redefine how I identiy as an aerialist.
My movement background is diverse. I’m always finding creative ways to incorporate concepts from my other disciplines such as pilates, dance, gymnastics and resistance training. I offer quality aerial instruction with an emphasis on vertical apparatus, aerial dance and authentic movement.
More recently I have expanded my business to offer personal training services. Balanced, informed training is key for long term success. I’m passionate about injury prevention and mind body connection. As a coach I strive to create a safe and welcoming environment. I coach humans from all movement backgrounds and I LOVE IT. All bodies, ages and levels are welcome. Working with the general population as well as athletes, I’m happy to help clients meet their movement goals, whatever that may be!
When I’m not in the air I’m most likely adventuring outdoors, trying new foods or thrifting.
Currently, I’m majoring in Dance at the University of Montana, part of the Pre Dance Therapy Program.
Specializing in — Vertical Apparatus (Rope, Sling, Aerial Fabric), Aerial Technique, Aerial Theory, Aerial Dance + Movement Quality, Personal Training and CPT
I strive to facilitate a welcoming classroom that adapts to an individuals unique goals and needs. My teaching style is heavily influenced by the variety of levels and students I have taught. The instruction I offer is quality, using progressive curriculum so students feel success every time they complete a session. The material covered often has a heavy focus on theory and how to translate movement in multiple ways. I value discussions and reflections. The two key factors when it comes to gaining a deep understanding of any material are consistency and exploration.
